THE CALLING HOUR ( A MUSICAL)

The Calling Hour, by Avi Gross and Heather Herington, a new fairy tale, is ideal entertainment for both children and adults. A timely tale set in the mountainous Spell Forest and the village of Tallwood, this enchanting musical reminds everyone in a fun and magical way about the importance of living in harmony with nature and each other.

In collaboration with Avi Gross and Heather Heringont, authors of this fabulous musical, I create an enchanted theme, depicting some of the main characters in the play. This marvelous work of art was created using colored pencil, ink and water colors. I was fascinated when I listened the fantastic and touching story of a little girl who learned how to speak the Language of Nature.  With a great passion and creativity Avi Gross has composed the perfect melodies and chants to elevate the drama, the plot, the climax and the outcomes of this magnificent fairy tale. The lyrics resemble the teachings, the unity, and the harmony that dwells in every aspect of nature.

Have you ever found yourself in a place where you feel so insignificant, powerless and discourage? Have you ever felt intimidate by life’s unexpected adversities and difficulties? Have you ever questioned… your FAITH? Please Do Not Despair my Dear Reader. My Painting Resemble your doubts.  

Faith is the state of mind in which we submerge to encounter that divine and sublime feeling that overcomes our reality and make us transform the impossible to the possible. Faith is the emotion that makes us reach as far as we can reach even when we know it’s against nature. Faith is the feeling that commences in our subconscious mind and transcends to the consciousness and transforms our desires in tangible actions. Faith is what impulses us to persevere when everything around us stumbles. Faith is what motivates us to achieve incredible things in life. Faith is what makes us believe that we are unstoppable human beings capable of grow, love, forgive, inspire, teach, share, unite, and preserve our heart’s desires. Faith is the unconditional belief in our CREATOR (God). 

Every time you feel like you are standing in front of a colossal mountain and feel so undersized, just remember your special power, the power of Faith. Don’t tell your faith how big is your mountain, instead, tell your mountain how big is your faith.

STEP INTO THE LIGHT, YWCA Art Exhibit, 2010

This amazing and life-transforming painting was dedicated to special person who strove every day, every second of her life to defeat and overcome a terrible adversity. Surrounding by confusion, disappointment, shame, anguish and loneliness, she used to walk through hopeless trails and endless labyrinth. She couldn’t find a reason why life had given her a harsh task to bear. She could not understand why that painful remarkable and undesired event happened to her. Something deeply inside of her soul anxiously screamed for an answer.

And one day, it happened. She decided to go to her local church and find the comfort and remedy that she couldn’t find in any psychologist or therapist. She found the Almighty Lord Creator of the entire universe and creator of all visible and invisible things. She found GOD! The God of Abram, Moses, Isaac and Noah, the God who opened the Red Sea and free His people, the God Who Sacrificed His Own primogenitor to redeem humanity for their sins, the God Who governs over the laws of nature and can restored any broken heart, any hurt causing by adversities, any collapsed soul, and any deteriorated life, she found Yahweh.

In Him she was born again. She found the calm, the courage, the strength, the serenity and the desirable peace that her soul was seeking for. She took God as his daily frame, surrounded by beautiful, elegant, ardent and graceful roses, and hold to it as she holds to the most powerful and unbreakable resource of energy she ever had. With her unstoppable and divine frame, she has defeated fears, doubts, worries and anxiety and has overcome turbulences, adversities, and many difficulties. Step by step, she has climbed the thorny, obscured, perplexing and acrid mountain of desolation and despair, and has STEPPED INTO THE LIGHT.

Now, with The Power of the Roses (her true representation of beauty and protection) and her firm and unconditional faith in God, she is breaking the silence, breaking the walls of unpleasant memories, breaking apart disappointments, destroying any obstacle that get in her way, bringing down any unwanted feeling that scratches her spirit and demolishing to particles every negative thoughts that may interrupt her Faith in GOD.

It’s been 5 decades since an extraordinary philanthropist, humble and brave, stood up for human dignity, for the equitable rights among his people. Martin Luther king and his fellow political leader, Rosa Park, Malcon X and others condemned the oppression, discrimination, subordination and segregation to which their loved brothers and sisters were been submerged into in the 1960’s and 1970’s.

Martin Luther King, as a great humanist and as a man of God, never lost faith in his vision that one day black children and white children will play together without prejudice, neither abhorrence, nor resentment. he believed that all men were created equal and that all men should live together in peace and harmony.

In 2009, after 50 years of Martin Luther King assassination, Barack Obama was elected as the president of United Stated of the America, turning Martin Luther King's dream into reality

Would humans be more goodhearted people if one day they discover that we all, living and non-living things, are connected somehow? Would they change their harsh and envious life to a harmonious and humanitarian life, if they would discover that this material world is not their final doom, that there is a mystical place full of peace and harmony and that to transcend to that place they have to find the universal connection between all existed things and themselves?

I was captivated by the stories of wealthy people who had been living greatly an extravagant life, fulfilled with luxury and materialistic pleasures; yet, after having a Near Death Experience, they turned their unsympathetic way of living to a humble and more humanitarian life. There is thousands of Near Death Experience documented in the entire world. http://www.nderf.org/.These people are from different genre, different culture, different language, different background, different physical appearance and different religions and ideals; however, there is one thing they all have in common, they all have drastically changed their way of living after facing a near death experience.

I don’t know exactly why it happens or how it happens, I just feel that there is something in our subconscious mind that makes us see incredible things that are ambiguous and vague for our consciousness. In this painting I portrayed myself surrounding with all living things. The connection that exists between the universe and all living and non living things is fascinating. Once, we were nothing more than star’s dust, then, with the mighty power of our creator, we came to be a bacteria, and millions of year later, the entire earth flourished with life and different types of species, amphibian, reptiles, birds, incept, mammals, plants and fishes. They are all connected by the same substances that make them to transcend time, distance and boundaries. Those substances are oxygen, carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, calcium and phosphorus. These are the same components from which the planets, stars, galaxies and the infinity universe are made. Moreover, the eternal cycles and the continuous changes of all things, make me wonder that our existence in this life share a common purpose, the purpose of existing and leaving a remarkable story behind. Once I was, now I am, tomorrow I will be gone.

Perception of Reality: what we human perceive sometimes is nothing more that abstract and vague objects. Sometimes is very difficult to understand what the mind cannot see but can perceive. For instance, the 4 ultimate laws that control the entire universe, Electromagnetism, Gravity, Strong Nuclear Force, and Weak Nuclear Force, are indeed invisible but without them, nothing will exist. These four laws are unperceivable to the naked eyes; yet, they are in charge of making everything that support life in the planet earth. For example, without Gravity, our planet will not exist. It will be like a white ball in a pool table, striking from one place to another, crashing into the first planet it encounters, or wondering around in the infinite universe.

Everything that we perceive as reality once it was nothing more that vague, complex, ambiguous and abstract concepts in which objectiveness played an insignificant role and subjectivity was the engine that revolved the consciousness and transformed the nothingness into something. The reality starts with a thought, a belief, and a summation that only exist in our imagination, it is a reflection caused by the subconscious mind. Then, it gradually takes the form of concrete ideas. It keeps progressing to reach the stage of experimentations, in this stage it might fail numerous of time. It might even go back to the beginning to find its destined trail. And finally, after so many miscarriages, the conscious mind accepts it as real, tangible and perceptible. The subconscious mind possesses the mysteries and secret of our existence and can transform abstraction into reality. What we see outside the frame might be uncertain and indeterminate; yet, to make it real, we just have to believe is real and that reality will transform the way we interact with the entire universe.

A New Beginning, 14x18, Water Color on Paper.

The beautiful metamorphosis that caterpillars have to go through to reach his final appearance is one of the most extraordinary wonders of nature. It's a remarkable way of teaching us how to accomplish greater things regardless of any physical or emotional difficulties. We just have to be patient and let time tell us when is the precise moment to transcend ourselves from a meaningless life to the marvelous world of happiness and hopefulness. We were all born to be something greater than we are, we just have to wait to strengthen our wings, then we can take off to a New Beginning.
